Guiltag 21 st Pflugzeit After the riders were dealt with you got a bit of sleep in the middle of the marsh and set off at dawn for Marienburg. The sun was looking very red as it rose and it seemed to be moving close to Morrslieb, making you think that maybe today was the day of the eclipse. You reached the city by about 2pm, and could see a sort of shanty town had been built along the road. You asked some people about it and they seemed to think that the moon would fall on the city, destroying it, but they would be safe forty yards beyond the city walls. Balden tried to explain that the moon was bigger than the city, but they weren’t having it. You queued for the main gate and when you got there you were told that no one would be allowed in or out without a pass. And the guard explained that martial law was being enforced and you would be able to buy a pass at the ‘Change. Of course, you couldn’t get to the ‘Change because you didn’t have a pass. Eventually, the guard agreed to ta...

Aubentag 17 th Pflugzeit - Bezahltag 20 th Pflugzeit So you have just escaped from the Colony, leaving the mutants and Sister Astrid to their fate. It was not long before Balden gained consciousness and, thanks to the skill of Sister Astrid, was feeling much better. You made decent time and thanks to your early start met the Gisoreux road while it was still early and you turned right and headed towards Marienburg. You saw that it wasn’t rammed like the local traders had made out, but there was a steady stream of travellers making their way from Marienburg. But you guessed that that is what is meant by rammed in such a desolate place. It was pretty decent travel on your horses, despite the narrow road and the oncoming traffic and you reached the village of Oosthuis long before nightfall. The settlement looked a bit richer and more civilised than the ones you had seen away from the main road. The place was already busy and full of refugees from Marienburg who were fleeing som...

Wellentag 16 th Pflugzeit Balden started to feel a bit faint, and it wasn’t long before he collapsed. His head was bleeding and you tried to wrap it up a bit, but none of you knew what you were doing. You decided that you should probably try to get to a village as soon as possible. Looking at the guide book, you could see that there was Klessen on the Gisoreux road, which looked sizeable but was probably more than a day’s travel away, and perhaps another village on the way to Klessen, but it was hard to tell with that map. After about an hour of travel you came across a couple of locals driving a cart. And after you convinced them you didn’t want to rob them they explained that they had been to Klessen but the going there had been very slow because of the massive number of refugees making their way along the road, away from Marienburg. But the traffic had meant they got very high prices for their turnips, so they were pleased about that. They said you could probably find a do...

10: Halsdorph

Festag 15 th Pflugzeit So you were on your way to Halsdorph. It wasn’t long before Egg started complaining about the journey and asked to go home. Max told her that she might like the Black Ship in Marienburg where she could make a load of money gambling, but Egg said she wasn’t interested in money (she didn’t really know what it was) and threw one of her guilders away. And then, through seemingly just bad luck, Max fell into a deep puddle. You managed to convince her that it would be good to go to school, and she agreed that Mr. Whiffle wanted her to go. After travelling most of the day you managed to get to Halsdorph which was a sizeable village but not much busier or smarter than Grimpengratz. You went to the only inn, the Horn of Plenty, and got food and drinks and a room. Egg didn’t like the stew so you had to buy her blueberry pie. The landlord mentioned that three other Marienburgers had been staying the previous night so this was unusually busy for him. He explained that ...
