Angestag 13 th Sigmarzeit You woke up the next day to find someone else in Balden’s bed. Luckily there were new sheets, too. Frau Koester had let the bed to Berta Hersh, a Marienburger who did grave digging, or something like that. Over Gruel Frau Koester said that she thought you could be relied upon to look after Berta, because you were nice lads. You told Heinrich what had happened the previous day and Berta was listening so you had to explain the whole thing with the spiders and the magic forest. Berta said she knew of Johan Rotter as their areas of business overlapped a bit. You explained you had a bottle of wine, which was the evidence Father Gunther at the temple of Sigmar had asked for, so you decided to head up to show him. On the way Berta bought some leather armour and Dietrich bought some cooler robes. You went up by river taxi and the driver asked if you’d heard about the fire on the Esplanade. He said that a whole tenement had burned down and a kid had died, and you ...

Guiltag 12 th Sigmarzeit In the morning you were all a bit shocked about the magical forest. Heinrich was still feeling injured and Balden was seeing to his wounds, so Max and Dietrich decided to go and see Johan Rotter to see what he had to say about the strange events, especially as it was his nephew who was in peril (although you had resigned yourself to the fact that he wouldn’t be seeing his nephew again). You already had the idea that he wasn’t that interested in magic and strange stuff like that, but you went to the Hangman, anyway. You told him all about the events at the opera house but he just told you not to take weirdroot when you went to the theatre. You asked him about his contacts with wizards and witch hunters and people like that but he said he was just a simple trader and at a push could introduce you to a couple of thugs, if you needed someone worked over. But you decided that that wasn’t what was required. Although you kept in mind that the composer at the Grand ...

Bezahltag 11 th Sigmarzeit In the morning you were feeling a bit better than you had been. The night’s sleep had done you some good, especially Max, and you decided to see how much you could get for those rubies. Balden didn’t go but trusted you to deliver his share of the cash. You knew that Handelaarmarkt was the famous trading area of Marienburg where your gems could fetch some high prices, but you also knew it had a reputation for sharp trading, and they were inclined to take advantage of naive sellers. So you opted to try the dwarf ghetto, Dwergbezit, where you had heard they traded honourably if a bit stingily. You travelled there through an area of Kruiersmuur called Esplanade which was in the middle of the halfling, dwarf, Bretonnia, Remas, and Miragliano areas. It was a sort of cosmopolitan neutral ground and as such was quite lively and had a lot of night life establishments. You found a middling sort of jewellers in Dwergbezit which belonged to Dori Snorrsson. He offere...

Backertag 10 th Sigmarzeit You came down for gruel in the morning as usual. You wondered whether Frau Koester would be getting tired of you turning up, beaten up and bruised, at all hours but she didn’t seem to mind. Heinrich saw to Max’s wounds from the previous day, and Dietrich stayed in bed saying he needed more sleep. You discussed the mess you were in and wondered what to do about it. You thought about handing over the hearts to Ofra because she had already offered Heinrich a couple of rubies for them (and the promise of eternal life) but you had a feeling that she might be up to no good. And Drexol’s accusations of necromancy made you wonder who the necromancer was. In the end, you decided to go to Rotter and ask him to invite the two parties to a meeting where they could sort out their differences peacefully, and you could perhaps make some money from it. You went to the Hangman and after interrupting his dodgy wine and cheese deals, explained to Rotter everything that ha...

Marktag 9 th Sigmarzeit Balden was having breakfast at the Hangman and Rotter was telling him about how the rest of the group were doing a warehouse job for him. And said that Balden should come down with him to the warehouse to check on them. When they got there they could see how the warehouse door had been smashed in and when Rotter saw the broken sarcophagus lid he was really annoyed. You explained to him what happened, but he wasn’t very sympathetic and told you you would have to go and explain it to Cloos as it was your fault and he didn’t want it reflecting badly on him. He even blamed Balden who hadn’t even been there. So you went up to Schattinwaard on the north islands to Cloos’ town house. You were feeling wealthy enough to take a river taxi instead of bothering with the Hoogbrug traffic jams. Cloos had a very nice house on the waterfront overlooking some of the docks of Arabierstad, the Arabyan quarter, and you could see lots of exotic people and food stalls, and boat...
