30: That Sinking Feeling

Image
Wellentag 23 nd Sigmarzeit Not sure about the listing ship and the seaweed (more probably pondweed) monster you retreated back to the Mudlark. You grabbed one of the chests of amber, and a bundle of ivory to take with you, while Balden carried his lead casket of wyrdstone. That was about all there was room for in the small rowing boat. Back on the Mudlark, Greta wanted nothing to do with the Olovald (for that was the name of the other boat) and wished to continue on to Carroburg. But Max was interested in stories of gold and fine pistols, and Heinrich was up for the adventure, too, so they took the rowing boat back to the Olovald with Dietrich. Heinrich’s rowing wasn’t the best and you ended up tying up on the high side of the listing vessel and had to climb up and enter through a gun port to avoid the swirling birds. Heinrich made the climb easily, and grabbed a rope from the stores and threw it down for the other two. But while they were climbing up, Heinrich caught sight of a s...

29: The Seaweed Man

Wellentag 23 nd Sigmarzeit After finally agreeing to bring Greta to Carroburg, you sailed after the Tench and the Grismarie and caught up with them, so you could travel in convoy. The day’s sailing was mostly unremarkable and towards evening, the two boats slowed and you could see they were checking out a stricken carrack that was listing and seemingly had no crew. You could see a body on the foredeck and a load of birds were constantly circling over the boat and diving down to it, and flying up again. It looked strange and so Dietrich concentrated on the magical winds and could see that at its source was Dhar, but it was surrounded by billows of uncontrolled Ghur. You decided you wanted to look into it, but the crew of the Tench decided it was too dangerous. Greta asked you to move along as she wanted to get to Carroburg, but she also acknowledged that Rotter would probably be interested in whatever you could salvage from the vessel . So, Balden, Berta, and Dietrich boarded the j...

28: The Reik Stuff

Guiltag 20 th Sigmarzeit So you sailed back to Marienburg. Both Rolf and Max lost consciousness on the way back and you managed to get them to Frau Koester’s. And you thought that Rolf might need to visit Marit at the temple of Shallya. Dietrich burned the magical scroll and the dubious artefacts that you had taken from Hermann Dahl. Then you went to the Hangman to break the news to Rotter that his boat had a new eight-legged crew. Rotter was a bit angry about it, and explained he needed it to pick up a cargo in Carroburg. And that as you were now his first choice crew you should go up there on the Mudlark, his crappy boat, and do the job. He even said that you’d be free to take whatever cargo you wanted on the outward journey to see if you could make some money on it. The job was to pick up a load of Red Abbey cheese (a tasty and crumbly Grevenfeld, characterised by its reddish hue). He said there would be fifteen to twenty wheels, which would cost a guilder each. And it would ta...

27: The Yellow Boat

Bezahltag 19 th  Sigmarzeit After getting rid of Catrina and her  plague babies , you explored the cavern and found that it led to the cavern you had previously found, with the derelict boat in it. And you carried Max to the temple of Shallya where Marit  mixed  some sort of green concoction for him, and said he should take it three times a day and it would deal with most of the symptoms of his Blood Rot infection. And then you left everything for the Shallyans to deal with. You went back to Frau Koester’s for bed, and found that she had moved some rat catcher called Rolf in for the night, but luckily, as Berta wasn’t around, he could sleep in her bed, with his dog, Sniff. And during the night Max didn’t die in his sleep. Guiltag 20 th  Sigmarzeit In the morning, you had gruel, and Max had to mi x  his medicine with it to make it palatable. You were telling Rolf of some of the stuff you had got up to, which, sounded like you made most of it up, when ...

26: Sister Catrina

Image
Bezahltag 19 th Sigmarzeit After celebrating killing the slug daemon, you woke up with sore heads. Balden and Dietrich weren’t around so you guessed they had gone on on a wizards’ date or something. After Frau Koester’s gruel you went up to the Hangman hoping that Rotter might give you some work. Rotter told you that the Seaweed Man had been killed on the Doodkanaal, and when you told him that it was really a daemonic slug, and you had done it, he laughed didn’t believe you. W hen you asked him for work he explained that he had lots of work but most of it involved moving things about by boat and since Kristoff had left you weren’t able to sail his boat. And Berta’s cart wasn’t the same as a boat. But Max noticed some out-of-place young lady was looking at you, and he noticed that under her cape she had light green robes. And she approached you and asked if you were the ones who had spoken to Sister Catrina. So Max paid for a private booth and bought everyone a brandy. She intro...
